Umai: the eBook

$5.00

U·MA·I(Ou-ma-ee)

Umai is the Japanese word for ‘yum’ but it can also mean to be good at something.

As a proud Japanese-Australian wmn, I’ve been eating and learning Japanese cooking my whole entire life. The recipes you’ll find in here are based what was passed down from the matriarchs of my family in Japan. They are your basic, classic home cooked meals from Japan.

When I switched my diet to plant-based in 2018, I couldn’t find many vegan Japanese recipes on the internet in Japanese. And to be quite frank, the ones available in English are too whitewashed for my tastebuds.

I’m a traditionalist when it comes to Japanese food. These recipes are as true to the traditional recipes as they can get. I’m also very lazy, so I’ve taken many short cuts and made these recipes easy to make, even if you weren’t born and raised in Japan.

I am so excited to take you on this authentic, plant-based Japanese cooking journey.

Take a sneak peak at some of the recipes included in the book:

  • Onigiri

  • Vegan sushi platter

  • Miso soup

  • Miso Aubergine

  • Baby Tomato Namul

  • Vegan Gyoza

  • Kinpira Veg

  • Japanese Afternoon Snacks

  • Saucy Greens

+ How to cook rice properly, a guide to the vegan Japanese pantry, and more!
